Job Description

The Scenic Designer will conceptualize, develop, and manage scenic design elements for Unbridled Productions. Serving as the bridge between creative vision and production execution, this role ensures every scenic element aligns seamlessly with client goals, budget requirements, and brand identity. The Scenic Designer will collaborate closely with Producers, Production Managers, the UB Creative team, and fabrication vendors to deliver exceptional, cohesive designs from concept through completion.

Successful candidates will have the following: 

• Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent applicable experience
• 3+ years scenic design experience
• 3+ years event production/producing experience
• Experience with Procreate, Vectorworks Spotlight, SketchUp, and Adobe Creative Suite 
• Experience with Scenic Design Planner, Set Design Hub, and other relevant platforms
• Excellent communication and presentation skills 
• Ability to manage multiple projects and varying deadlines
• Travel as needed

What you would be doing at Unbridled: 

• Collaborate with Producer/Production Manager to confirm program details (venue, room name, measurements, budget, timelines).
• Request and organize all relevant client assets for set design creation.
• Partner with Producer to develop mood boards that reflect client inspiration and event themes.
• Source and organize images to clearly present distinct design directions while keeping budget in mind.
• Assist in mood board presentation to the client (if requested by Producer).

• Receive approved client assets, room measurements, and creative direction from Producer.
• Develop and gain approval on a Base Concept Outline before creating full concepts.
• Create a minimum of three (3) unique set design options per presentation round (up to 3 rounds with edits).
• Create generic custom assets if UB Creative does not provide them.
• Participate in client calls and incorporate post-call feedback from Producer.
• Upload all concepts to SharePoint and share links with PMs and Producers.
• Assist in preparing client-facing Scenic Design presentations.

• Support Production Manager in gathering material counts and liaising with vendors to ensure vision accuracy.
• Upload final designs to Set Design Hub, noting purchased, presented, and archived concepts.
• Upload approved Base Concepts in black-and-white format if needed.

• On need basis - travel to and attend scenic load-in to ensure the set is built accurately to the approved design through desired time by Producer.
• Collaborate with A/V partner to obtain accurate time estimates and labor requirements for scenic builds.
• Work with the Producer to manage and execute set design changes or alternate looks during the event.
• Troubleshoot and provide creative solutions for any scenic adjustments needed onsite.
• Additional Responsibilities as needed.
